- About Radstadt
“My God, this land is beautiful!” - thus reads the inscription on the Rossbrand’s summit cross (1,768 m). And this is truly not exaggerated, for the Rossbrand offers an unparalleled 360 degree panoramic view of more than 150 prominent Alpine peaks. The view is breathtaking: from the Dachstein to the Bischofsmütze, the Tennengebirge and Hagengebirge ranges to the Hochkönig, the Hohe Tauern mountains with the Großglockner and Großvenediger peaks, all the way to the local Radstädter and Schladminger Tauern (3D-Panoramic-View).
Amateur geologists can read up on the landscape’s formation as well as other interesting topics depicted on the massive stone slabs surrounding the summit cross.
Hikers can reach the Rossbrand summit in just 3 hours, starting from Radstadt via the Bürgerbergalm (3 hours; path 462) or via Mountain inn Rohrmoos (3 hours; path 461) and starting from Mandling via Mandlberggut and Steinalm (4 hours; path 460). Additional beautiful ascents lead from Altenmarkt past Habersatt (4 hours; path 63; 460) or from Filzmoos over Moosalm and Karalm (3 hours.)
The well maintained Rossbrand road (free of charge) is a good alternative to reach the top by car, motorbike or bus.
The parking lot is just a 15 minutes walk from the peak.
This is also a great route for mountain bikers.
