- About Radstadt
In the deepest middle age, Radstadt evolved into a flourishing commercial city on the pass road over the Radstädter Tauern, thanks to its strategic location in Salzburg’s Enns valley. In the present day there is still much to discover and see between the old city walls, churches, crypts and monasteries of the small historical city.
The lantern-lit “Night Watchman Tour” leads from the "Teichturm"-tower to the old forge and continue to the Capuchin tower with its late Gothic roof structure and the exhibition about the peasant war, through the "Metzgerloch" to the city square.
The past comes back to life, when the Radstadt night watchman, with his halberds and in the old uniform, sings the famous night watchman song and tells the visitors all kinds of tales and legends.
Along the southern city wall you´ll get surpriced with a serenade by a wind section.
Further fixtures on this journey in time, are the Gothic guard posts and the city’s parish church, which is well-known for the organ music of Paul Hofhaimer, the most famous son of Radstadt.
