in Advent

This year’s Advent season again features Radstadt’s Christmas hikes. The traditional peaceful hikes through the romantic torchlit “Kaiserpromenade” are organized by the tourist association and take place on

  • 8th Dezember
  • 15th Dezember und
  • 26th Dezember 2018 always from 05.00 until 07.00 pm.

The approximately one-hour walk begins at the “Schwaigerkapelle”. You are accompanied by wind instruments all the way to the “Loretokirche”,
where you are invited inside by organ music and Christmas carols. Before heading through the Lärchenbach gorge with its “cloud of sound”,
Max Steiner tells his scary yet beautiful fairytales.
At the entrance to the “Kaiserpromenade” a large panel features the Christmas story according to the Gospel of Luke. After enjoying the tasty complementary Advent punch, the path continues past the scented cottage exhibiting Johann Mayrhofer’s beautiful nativity scene. The winter forest looks to be enchanted by the many colorful floodlights after which an Advent quartet awaits you, along with an angel to lead the way.
As you leave the Kaiserpromenade, past the three Magi who followed the star, you’ll have an unmatchable view of the illuminated city of Radstadt.

Also this year’s the “Alp’s longest Advent calendar” is a highlight of this walk. Twenty-four windows, illuminated from within, are positioned along the path, portraying Advent, Christmast and heritage themes.

Entrance fee for the Christmas hike is € 6.00 (children until 14 years are free). A part of the proceeds is donated to charity.
